I power the Ursa Mini Pro off the p-tap outlet in the carriage, which is wonderful. New batteries are a massive improvement over the original Movi batteries. And part of that is being able to set it down-but a huge part of it is that it's just so much lighter.įor my uses I haven't made any tweaks.the way they had Majestic Mode set up out of the box has been great for how I use it. Same camera, same monitor, much lighter gimbal. I borrowed a DJI Ronin and put my Ursa Mini Pro on it (external buttons help a ton as a gimbal camera btw), and after using it for about an hour my back was absolutely killing me, and I was literally sore for several days.įlash forward to finally purchasing the Movi Pro-I used it three days in a row shooting for about six hours each day, and my back was fine. I used the M5 for a while when I was shooting with a DSLR and sold it when I upgraded to the Ursa Mini. When connected to the MIMIC, the Bush Pilot can actuate focus, zoom, or iris, depending on how you have it set up. Additional control can be achieved with the included Bush Pilot Auxiliary Control Knob.

The MIMIC has Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz radios built-in for device and accessory communication. Since the design also goes above and below the stabilizer itself, high and low shots are easily accomplished with minimal stretching on the part of the camera operator.įor dual-operator configurations, the MIMIC syncs with the MōVI Pro, allowing one operator to control the camera movements while a second operator moves the camera rig. With the included batteries, the camera and essential accessories can be powered without adding any bulk to the MōVI Pro.īy offering a unified design, the MōVI Ring Pro lets the camera operator grip the attached MōVI Pro from nearly any angle. The MōVI Pro motorized gimbal stabilizer steadies cameras weighing up to 15 pounds, rendering it compatible with mirrorless cameras all the way up to smaller cinema cameras. Consisting of the MōVI Pro motorized gimbal stabilizer, MōVI Ring Pro handle, and the MIMIC controller, this kit can perform in either single or dual-operator configurations. The original Movi was imitated by many competitors. If history repeats itself, the Pro’s features may one day trickle down into less expensive units, including those from other manufacturers. Use it with or without the ring, attach the traditional handlebars, or mount it to a drone or dolly. Like previous Movi units, the Pro can be rigged in a variety of ways. The motors are also more powerful and more precise, offering greater stability and improved control in time-lapse mode. In addition to the internal wiring, the brushless motors are now sealed for safe operation in any weather conditions. Users can adjust parameters on the fly without needing to go through a separate computer or mobile app.

While on the ground, the gimbal maintains full control, so a remote operator can pan and tilt the camera like it was on a tripod.īut perhaps one of the greatest features introduced with the Movi Pro is its support for hot-swappable batteries. This allows the device to be set down anywhere and can easily be handed off to other operators or rigged to a crane or other devices. The most noticeable feature of the Movi Pro is the new ring which encompasses the entire gimbal. Now, Freefly is back with the Movi Pro, which takes an entirely new approach to the concept the company pioneered. The concept was simple: take the gimbal system from a drone and put it an operator’s hands. Introducing MōVI ProFreefly Systems introduced the first Movi several years ago and stunned filmmakers and viewers with its ability to capture smooth, fluid motion in handheld shots.
